Reading between the lines

My email account was hacked into recently and I got flooded with a load of spam messages and my account sent out a load of spam to trusted friends and colleagues who weren’t too impressed at me being hacked. But in the midst of all the emails, I found one that wasn’t spam but one that I knew would be of interest to a friend of mine – it was about jeep wrangler lift kits. Never was my friend as pleased to get an email forwarded to him from me, as he was when he received that email!

Valentines ideas when cutting tools are needed too!!

I’ve recently taken up card making as a hobby. It all started rather by accident after I realised how much I was spending on greetings cards and other valentines day gifts. It was outrageous.  So I decided enough was enough and I bought a book on card making and bit by bit I started to assemble a selection of tools to help me on my quest.  Of course, I’ve made mistakes and wasted money buying the wrong things – you pay for what you get, as I discovered when it came to cutting tools I thought I was getting a bargain when I picked up a set of blades and craft knives for a very reasonable sum.  When they arrived, it was quite obvious that they wouldn’t cut anything so I’ve disposed of those and made a sharper purchase this time round.

Thinking of helping with new lives in my mid life

I’m a bit bored of my job and I’m looking for a change; a complete change. As in, going back to college and starting over kind of change. It all started when I was mindlessly reading the newspaper and stumbled across the jobs section. There were several Obstetrician & Gynecologist Jobs going and it got me thinking about what it’d take to qualify as in the obs & gyne field. It’s all kind of snowballed from there and I’ve got an appointment with a career guidance counsellor in the local college next Tuesday!

If it’s seems too good to be true, it’s because it probably is!

Most of my friends are computer savvy enough to recognise a potential computer virus when they see one but it would seem that some can’t resist an offer that seems to good to be true. A friend of mine recently hit ‘click here’ when a banner flashed up on his screen. Apparently, the banner claimed he’d won prize because he was the 1 millionth customer. He’s rather embarrassed by the fact he got spammed as badly as he did!

Disposable income was disposed of long ago

Times are tough for a lot of people right now and every one is looking for ways to tighten the purse strings. My sister is a nurse and she’s found a great place for discount scrubs. They’re top quality for a fraction of the price she normally pays. She’s started all sorts of money saving schemes and she’s kicking herself that she didn’t employ these methods when she had money! That way she wouldn’t have wasted as much of her money then and would have saved more of it for now.

Will you marry me?

Is Christmas or Valentines is the most romantic time of year? I wonder when the majority of marriage proposals take place? I’d love to know how many engagement rings are sold around both times. And if many guys buy the ring first or if more couples buy the ring together? I don’t know why I’m asking all these questions of late. Think I’ve been watching too many chick flicks.

Taking color coordination to a whole new level

My sister had her third baby last month and we’re just made up for her. She finally got herself a little girl after two boys. She’s gone rather mad on pink! Understandably so, some might say. She had managed to recycle pretty much everything from baby no. 1 with baby no. 2 and she could manage a few of the essentials again this time round – high chair, travel system, stroller etc – but no, she’s got to buy it all again, this time in pink. Our other brother and I have decided to buy the stroller of her choice. She’s chosen an uppababy. Now if she decides to go again, she’ll have all options covered!

Breakdown in communication but that’s ok because the recovery truck is on the way

Just last week I renewed my motor insurance and was delighted to get a bonus of a roadside assistance plan as part of my basic insurance. I was rather pleased until I realised that my premium had been raised rather significantly from last year’s price even though I’ve not made any claims. Worse still, I believed them when they said that premiums had gone up across the board – I bought their sales pitch!

Wearing the badge with pride

We are having a bucket collection this weekend to raise funds for a local charity. Instead of the usual stickers we put on people, we’ve decided to go for a lapel pin instead. We figure that we’ll raise both more money and more awareness of the cause. A sticker could fall off or whatever whereas a pin will last longer and may have more of a long term impact, so it’s marketing too!

Paying the tab because I wasn’t paying attention

The other night I went out to dinner with a few colleagues for an informal business meeting. We’d been brainstorming ideas all day and we were getting nowhere so I came up with the idea of going for a bite to eat. When it came to paying the bill, the inner nerd in me noticed the POS and I noticed that the restaurant were using an Epson TM-T88V. I got so distracted that I ended up using my own personal credit card to pay the bill rather than the company card!
